Overview

You have the right to delete your Vaani account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to do so, what data is removed, and how to contact us if you need assistance.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: Delete In-App (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly within the Vaani app:

  1. Open the Vaani app and sign in
  2. Tap the Account tab in the bottom navigation
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account
  5. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Your account and personal data will be permanently deleted immediately upon confirmation.

Option 2: Request via Email

If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us:

  • Email: support@vaani.us
  • Subject: Account Deletion Request
  • Include the email address associated with your Vaani account

We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Profile information: Name, display name, profile photo, bio
  • Authentication data: Email address, linked social accounts (Google, Facebook, Apple)
  • Account activity: Debates participated in, votes cast, comments made
  • Notifications: All push notification tokens and preferences
  • Uploaded media: Profile photos and any thumbnails you uploaded

What May Be Retained

Certain data may be retained after account deletion for legal, safety, or operational reasons:

  • Debate recordings: Live debate recordings may remain accessible to other participants for a limited period
  • Aggregated analytics: Anonymized, non-identifiable usage statistics
  • Legal compliance data: Records we are required to retain by law (e.g., transaction records if applicable)
  • Safety records: Reports or moderation actions taken on your account, retained to prevent abuse

All retained data is de-identified where possible and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Timeline

  • In-app deletion: Account and personal data are removed immediately
  • Email request: Processed within 30 days of receiving your request
  • Backup systems: Data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being fully purged

Before You Delete

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Before proceeding, you may want to:

  • Download or save any content you wish to keep
  • Consider signing out instead if you plan to return later
  • Contact support@vaani.us if you are experiencing an issue we can help resolve
